The war of attrition against the leaders
of the “Cedar revolution” continued today. The
name of another member of the majority in the
Lebanese parliament, Antoine Ghanem, was added
to the list of leaders brutally assassinated by
the enemies of freedom and democracy in
Lebanon. Those who are part of the Lebanese
opposition under the pretext of protecting the
constitution and the power sharing stipulated in
it should ask themselves this question: is
decimating their opponents with car bombs
conducive to respecting the constitution?
If
the majority of those who are boycotting the
parliament and the government do not agree with
these monstrous acts then they should know that
their positions are exploited by those
committing them, those who would love to see a
Lebanon without a constitution and without
freedom.
We therefore make a historic and a patriotic
call to all the conscientious members of the
parliament, now counted on the opposition’s
side, to declare immediately that they will
unconditionally end their boycott and
participate, on September 25th , in the
presidential elections. This automatically
renders the assassinations of more members of
parliaments ineffective in stopping the
democratic process from taking its course. If
they do not, they will be guilty by association,
for not only these hideous murders, but for
destroying any hopes for saving Lebanon. They
should know that their alliance with the two
tyrannies, Syria and Iran, can never bring
democracy to Lebanon. All they want is a burnt
and lawless land where they can set their
puppets and pursue their perverse agendas.
As we offer our condolences to the families of
the victims and wish a quick recovery for the
injured, we ask the international community to
continue exerting all kinds of pressure in order
to extract Lebanon from the claws of the
murderous regimes of Syria and Iran.
